There are generally about 35-40 people to feed. Time swimmers arrive: 5:15- 5:30 and generally stay no more than one hour 6 loaves of bread or rolls, girls like garlic, plain and variety of rolls including "snowball", delivered before start of dinner…call host to arrange 1-2 salad “bins”, approx. 10 x 8 inches, tossed with dressing, delivered to host before start of dinner. About 2 cases of drinks total….about 24 (combined total) bottles of vitamin water and/or Gatorade, ; about 24 containers of juice, chocolate milk …NO SODA…delivered to host before start of dinner: (water bottles ok too but host probably has perfectly good tap water). Instructions for host: These are only
guidelines for those of us who have never done this. I am approximating
amount based on info from past seasons and also other HS sport
teams. Please do in any way you find works for you, and help me by giving
feedback as to what does and doesn’t work. You could also add in pans
of lasagna or macaroni and cheese, and cut down some on the ziti/meatballs…. 1) 2 large aluminum pans (12x20 x3) (good for the red sauce) and 1 small pan for mac and cheese, if desired 2) cook about 8 lbs of dry pasta. (Ziti works well) 3) add approx. 20 lb. tomato sauce to these….more or less to taste and keep warm in oven. You may want to have one plain pan of pasta with just olive oil on it. 4) cook approx. 9 lb (~200) frozen meatballs in some sauce and serve in pan, or another large alum pan 5) have 2 tubs or shakers of cheese ready on serving table, along with tub of butter for bread 6) volunteers will bring bread, salad, and drinks….please call them ahead of time to coordinate 7) You will also need about 50 sturdy plates, 50 forks, 75 napkins, drink cups, and some large garbage bags 8) Put balloons or something on your mailbox so it is easily identified These are approximate amounts. Some people prefer to order from a local deli. I am sure that they will be happy to help you settle on amounts also. Remember that you can always recruit help from team member and their parents, if you wish.
