Soundings - The Soundings Literary
Magazine is now accepting submissions for the Resounding
Memories Creative Writing Contest. If you like writing or feel
that you have already written a good piece for this contest,
please submit. The contest’s theme is memory and there are
three sections: poems, short stories, and personal essays. The
deadline for submissions is January 8th, 2010. Send all
submissions to: resoundingmemories@gmail.com. See the

ATHLETICS TRYOUTS - Girls Basketball
tryouts begin Monday, November 23rd and the remaining sports
begin on Monday, November 30th. In order to participate, each
athlete must have a current sports physical as well as an
emergency permission form filled out. Visit

for the necessary forms and information. Return the completed
forms to the nurses’ office or to the Athletic trainer. For

Musical Instrument Drive - Do you have an
unwanted musical instrument? Donate it! The Staples Music
Department is looking for instruments, especially, guitars,
keyboards, violins and woodwinds that can be donated to a
school in need. Deliver all donations to Mr. Mariconda’s
office, room 466.
GUIDANCE -As of
November 13, seniors who wish to send their first quarter
grades may do so by completing the following:
Complete a Request for 1st Quarter Grades
form
found in the Guidance Office.
Address a business sized envelope (3 x 9 1/2) to the college
admissions office for each school.
Use the Staples High School address as the return address (70 North Ave).
Return the Request for 1st Quarter Grades form and
envelope(s) to Mrs. Ketley in the Guidance Office during the
hours of 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. or
11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The Guidance Dept. will provide all postage. Always feel free to
check with your counselor if you have questions.
Give Back to the Troops! The Staples
Student Assembly is hosting a holiday drive for materials to
be sent to the troops of 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment,
82nd Airborne Regiment stationed in Mosul, Iraq. Materials for
the soldiers may be dropped off in the boxes in the lobby and
cafeteria, and checks made out to Staples High School may be
given to Michael Goodgame or Mrs. Denton in the math
department, or brought/mailed to 222 Compo Road South. A

Reflections - Want to pursue artistic
expression? The Reflections Contest is an opportunity to
create works of art for fun and recognition. Entry in the
Library, main office or most classrooms. Due 12/4 Principal's
office.
