Take a Constitutional
Constance Chien
I was never one for
imagining myself wandering
aimlessly
in a city at night
lost and
alone
for that is how I feel
as if I should take a
constitutional
and wander the banks of the Seine
or New York City or Chicago
during a fog
Debussy's Arabesque I as
background melody
and then a rain comes
and it's dark
and several taxis driving those
who have a purpose in being out there
late at night
who have structure
and goals
and ideas and dreams
who would never entertain the notion of wandering a foggy night.
