Poem Prompt 1
Ryan McGuinness
The long,
haul.
A single act of an unwavering bond,
however, for those incapable souls,
Like myself,
commitment is a shackling weight,
I must drag through the dirt in relationships.
The issue lies not with my,
significant other,
but upon my wandering eye;
Unfocused on one,
but on many.
The ability,
My ability to commit is disregarded.
Lost to passing streaks of blondes,
dripping with temptation-
exuding a sickly sweet,
ensnaring, perfume-
brunettes strut,
intoxicatingly by persuading my judgment.
Amidst all of the tantalizing sin,
lies a small smoldering flame
of compassion and desire.
A compassion to love one and only,
One.
A Desire,
small and indiscernible, but alive with raging intensity;
a Desire,
I hope,
to alter my devious ways and emerge anew;
A committed Man.
