The Orange Light above My Bed at the Mental Hospital

Megan DeBussey

Oranges

Oranges,

Braille for the handicapped

Ring around the rosy of blackened grit rings,

The sun

The sun,

My duplicitous little Death Star,

Under the water we go on tired wings.

Light

Light,

How it burns under telescope eyes,

The meteors make the cornea-creatures

From their rays and stings,

Holes

Holes,

Rented finger spaces,

The electroshock in my head that rings.
