Alone, but Together
Josh Goldstein
I sit at my desk
Book in hand,
Pen in the other,
And a paper beneath both my hands.
The light shines across my face
Making a necessary division that divides the
Togetherness
Of my face
The shadow shines the light of
My mood
Concentration, focus, determination
To do something different,
Something unique,
To add a bit of mystique,
And to bring it all
Together.
The world is shut around me for those couple of minutes
Until I hear someone
Calling me
So we can be
Together
For dinner.
And yet
Life takes a turn
I am outside,
Sun and breeze hitting my body.
I am on the bike
As the breeze smacks my face.
I am in a pack with my friends
Together
Yet
I am alone
And together
In the same exact moment.
That is teenage life
In my opinion,
Anyways.
