Junior Prom Tickets
Junior Prom will be on Saturday May 20th from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Junior Prom tickets will be on sale in the cafeteria Wednesday April 19th - Friday April 21st during all 3 lunch waves - see attachments. In order to purchase a ticket, a prom contract must be signed (by junior and a parent/legal guardian). All current accountabilities must be settled. The price is $65 a ticket - cash/checks will be accepted (check made out to SHS class of 2018). ALL STUDENTS must have a signed prom contract in order to purchase a ticket.

** If you are buying a ticket for your date you MUST have their completed contract!**

Last New Families Coffee for the Year
Our last New Families Coffee Morning will be on Thursday April 20th. See you at 9:30-11:00 at Aux Delices in Westport!

Coffee with the Principal
Please join us this Friday @ 9am in the faculty dining room for the April coffee. In addition to hearing updates from Principal D’Amico, we will learn about the new book club let by literacy coordinators Rebecca Marsick and Barbara Robbins.

PYD - Mindfulness & Emotional Regulation in Teens
Please join us on Wednesday April 26th at 9:00 am in the cafeteria, for a presentation on skills for parents to help students with mindfulness and emotional regulation.

Sophomore Parent Coffee
The Guidance Department will hold a coffee for parents of sophomores on Friday, April 28th at 8:30 am in the Staples High School cafeteria. They will discuss the timeline of the final two years of high school.

SPED News
A lot of different activities are coming:

  • DISTRICT WIDE SPRING COFFEE (click here for flyer) on April 20th 9:30am to 11am @ Westport Arts Center. The presentation will be on Executive Functioning. Learn how executive functioning affects our kids in the classroom and learn some strategies to help your child at home. RSVP strongly recommended: Sharuna Mahesh at sharunam@gmail.com
  • TEEN FUN NIGHT @ Westport Y (click here for flyer) on April 29th 7:30pm to 9:30pm. Join us at the Y for Teen Fun Night -- swim in the pool, play in the gym and/or hang out in our game room. RSVP: Stacie Curran at stacieace@gmail.com or Merrily Bodell at mzbodell@gmail.com

From the College & Career Center

  • WOMEN’S SERVICE ACADEMY EVENT - Congressman Jim Himes' Office will be hosting a Women’s Service Academy Event at Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk, CT on April 23rd from 1:00-3:00 pm to educate young women about the five service academies (West Point, Naval, Air Force, Merchant Marines and Coast Guard). They will have representatives from these schools present to talk about their experiences and answer questions from the students.
  • ACADEMY NIGHT - The Connecticut Congressional Delegation will be holding the annual Academy Night on Wednesday, April 26 from 6-9 PM (doors open at 5:30 pm) at the MG Maurice Rose Armed Forces Reserve Center, 375 Smith Street, Middletown, CT. The program is for all students interested in attending the five service academies.

Club News
The Girls Water Polo club will be holding a car wash fundraiser on Sunday April 30th from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm at 8 Myrtle Avenue. $10 per car - rain date is Sunday May 7th, 11:00 am - 3:00 pm.

Board of Education

  • STRATEGIC PLANNING - Please take a moment to review this press release from Dr. Palmer and participate in strategic planning survey.
  • NEXT BOE MEETING ON APRIL 24TH. More information to follow as the Board will be discussing the budget and how to proceed after the Board of Finance restoration meeting from before break.
