Coffee with the Principal featuring SHS Literacy Coaches

Did you know that the single best predictor for improving reading comprehension at any age is reading volume? Learn this and more when SHS Literacy Coaches Rebecca Marsick and Barbara Robbins join Principal James D’Amico for the January PTA Coffee on January 27th at 9:00 am in the faculty dining room. Guidance Department News

Schedule changes: All students who need any adjustment to their schedule for 2nd semester can see their counselor during lunch periods on Wednesday, January 25th and Thursday, January 26th. No appointment necessary.

Local scholarships available: Applications are now being accepted for Staples Tuition Grants, Westport Woman’s Club and Westport P.A.L. Scholarships. Please see attached flyer for more information.

Course selection schedule: Starting in February, Counselors will begin to meet with students for course selection for the 2017-18 school year. Grade 11 will be seen from February 13th–16th. Grade 10 will be seen March 6th–10th. Grade 9 will be seen from March 20th–24th. Please be sure that all students sign up for guidance appointments during the week that is scheduled for their grade.

Spring Sports Sign-up

Spring sports registration opens February 1st. Go to http://staplesathletics.leag1.com/ to register. Please check the Staples Athletics website for meeting and try out information for this upcoming season.

Please note our policy on use of the PTA directory/email addresses: The authorization to use the email addresses collected by the SHS PTA for purposes of communicating with its members is granted solely to the SHS PTA in connection with PTA communications and matters strictly related to school events and classroom activities. Any other use of such information, directly or indirectly, by any other person or entity, is unauthorized and expressly prohibited. Unauthorized uses include, but are not limited to, commercial announcements (advertisements), group discussions and social events unrelated to school. Inappropriate e-mails should be forwarded to the PTA Co-Presidents or school administration.
