Mission Statement (the goals and responsibilities of this crew):
The responsibility of the Props crew is:
1. Read the script carefully at the beginning of rehearsals and compose a comprehensive list of all props neede for production. This includes set decoration (furniture, paintings, lamps etc.)
2. Locate all the props from
A. Staples' collection
B. From cast and crew's homes
C. On the internet
D. From stores (second hand or new)
3. Maintain and organize Staples' collection.
4. Be responsible for the placement of props before and after the show.
5. Be responsible for the care, safety and return of all props belonging to Staples Players and those borrowed from other sources.
6. Seek out donations to Staples' collection.
Goals:
This year in the props department we hope to accomplish some goals that would
be a great contribution to players.
Some goals we wish to meet are:
-We want to have a set props crew.
-We need to have regular meetings.
-We will keep strict inventory of every prop that resides in the prop room
-We want a designated props crew head, preferably not someone who performs on
stage, to be backstage at all times during performances
-We want to work more closely with all the crews, especially costumes and set
construction
-We want a designated props area backstage left and right for all shows
-We want to make it known, that the only people who should handle props, are
the props crew and the owner of the prop
-WE want props to become a more highly recognized part of Staples Players
With all these qualities, we believe this could be the best year for props,
Staples Players have ever had.
