Mission Statement (the goals and responsibilities of this crew):
The main objective of the Pit Orchestra is to perform at a level of
excellence. In addition to this main goal, there are several other
derivatives. First, the Pit Orchestra must produce a group that works well
as a team. Secondly, that team must cooperate well with the other factions
of Staples Players. These components will benefit the Pit Orchestra, adding
to the main objective. However, it will also be beneficial to the entire
Staples Players Organization, making for an excellent production. If these
three objectives are met, the Pit Orchestra will be a prolific addition to
productions of Staples Players.
There are several requirements incumbent on the achievement of these goals:
1. Previous Pit Orchestra members need to encourage other musicians to join.
2. Previous Pit Orchestra members need to encourage freshman to join.
3. Each Pit Orchestra member is responsible for attending every rehearsal
and practicing the music thereof.
4. Each Pit Orchestra member is responsible for attending every Staples
Players meetings or derivative thereof.
5. Each Pit Orchestra member is responsible for showing respect to all
directors involved with a production.
6. Each Pit Orchestra member is responsible for showing respect to his or
her fellow musicians, singers, actors, technicians, and other Staples
Players members.
7. Each Pit Orchestra is responsible for choosing one member who will be
responsible for morale.
8. Each Pit Orchestra is responsible for choosing one member who will be
responsible for setting up the stand lights.
9. Each Pit Orchestra member is responsible for helping to strike the pit
10. Each Pit Orchestra member is responsible for helping to strike the set
when the pit has been struck.
11. Each Pit Orchestra member is responsible for having his or her book
erased and in the hands of the conductor by the Monday proceeding closing
night.
The success of the Pit Orchestra, per production and as a new crew, will be
dependent on the fulfillment of these endeavors. Thus, it is necessary for
the 2000-2001 Pit Orchestras to set the example for years to come. With
this example set, the Pit Orchestra will continue to be a great contribution
to Staples Players productions.
