Metric System

The ONLY Countries in the WORLD that DON'T use the METRIC SYSTEM:

It is important to know that Americans are not only afraid of Carbohydrates, Calories, and the Metric System, but they are also afraid of DECIMALS!

NOTE: In the USA, a 20 fl oz ( = 1.25 pt, not to mention = 591 mL) bottle of Diet Coke, for example, is listed as having ZERO Calories of energy.

By the way, were you aware that 1 calorie = the amount of energy needed to raise 1 cc (1 cm3 or 1 mL) of H2O 1o Celsius?

Were you also aware that 1 Calorie = 1000 calories, or 1kcal?  Mind your capitals

NOTE: In Portugal, for example, the bottles (which are actually called Coca-Cola Light) are 500 mL (0.5 L), and they have the energy listed  2 ways:
        1 kJ (kiloJoule)
        0.2 kcal
(0.2 Calories, for the Americans in the audience.  Oops, forgot the decimal . . . make that 0 Calories . . .)

Incidentally, 1 kJ is really equal to 0.2388458966275 kcal . . .
    That works out to
0.000477691793255 kcal/mL . . .
That means an American bottle of Diet Coke actually has
0.282315849813705 kcal, oops, Calories.
In Europe that would be rounded up to 0.3 kcal.
                In America . . . it's still ZERO . . .

For those of you enamored of the Standard . . . uh, Imperial . . . uh, English . . . uh, 'merican system . . . (Get it?)

How many scruples does a slug have?

20 grains = 1 scruple
3 scruples = 1 drachm
8 drachms = 1 ounce
24 scruples = ounce = 480 grains

1 slug = 32.17405 lbs = 514.7848 ounces = 12,354.8352 scruples

A slug, therefore, has 12,354.8352 scruples

Duh . . .

If you say that's not fair, lets use commonly used terms . . . How many square inches in a square mile?

12 inches = 1 foot
1 square foot = 12 in x 12 in = 144 square inches / square foot

1 mile = 5280 feet
1 square mile = 5280 ft x 5280 ft = 27,878,400 square feet / square mile

27,878,400 sq. ft / mile x 144 sq. in / sq. ft = 4,014,489,600 square inches in a square mile

Duh . . .
