Independent Film

Historically, there have been many talented student filmmakers that attend Staples High School. In the 2006/07
school year, the first class dealing solely with the creation of independent films was added into the curriculum.
The addition of the film production class comes at the heels of a number of our young directors winning area
awards for films produced in classes in the Media Lab.

Narrative Film Class Assignments:

Assignment #1 - Creating a Shot List or Storyboard/Varying Shots/Sequencing Film

Assignment #2 - 30 sec. Public Service Announcement (P.S.A.)

Assignment #3 - 30 to 90 sec. "Commercial"

Assignment #4 - Instructional Video

Assignment #5 - Music Video

Assignment #6 - Independent Film
