Meaningful Reflecting
Using Your First Quarter Rubric to set appropriate goals for the second quarter.
One down and three to go.
Critical Feedback, in whatever form, whenever you receive it, causes you to have an emotional reaction. Often it is difficult to be objective in the wake of these emotions. Therefore, tonight, after you have given yourself a little distance from this feedback - we want you to take some time writing about your first quarter. This writing will serve as a focus for our 1 on 2 meetings with you.
Consider:
What is your initial reaction (think or feel) to these comments?
How well do you understand the comments that were provided to you? Write a summary of what these comments mean to you. What do they say? Are there comments (kinds of comments) that seem to repeat themselves? Does a patter of comments emerge?
Think back to the question: "how do you see yourself and how do others see you?" What do we see you doing and how is this image reflected by where you are on the rubric? How do our comments compare to your own? How do you account for any differences?
Based on this comparison what questions do you now have?
Given your new understanding of the rubric what are your priorities for the second quarter? Why? What is your initial plan to address these?
