Back
to school night for junior and senior’s parents was held on Thursday, Sept. 18,
with an opening from Principal John Dodig in which he emphasized the coming
events for each class, and the opportunities Staples offers them.
Among these were the Rotary Club study abroad opportunities with, the
Senior Internship program, and the many classes the school offered. He spoke of
Staples as being an environment in which students can grow and develop, under
the watch of good teachers.
He also urged parents to join the PTA, which will get them a copy of the student
directory, raised money for the new Smartboards, and most importantly, gives
scholarships to students who need help paying for college.
After Dodig’s opening, parents went to each of their children’s classes,
spending 10 minutes in each. Teachers presented course material, but some also
organized a fun activity for parents relating to their class. Michael Lazaroff,
for instance, had a murder scene demonstration the parents of his forensics
class.
