What is UConn Early College Experience?

UConn Early College Experience (ECE) is a concurrent enrollment program that allows motivated high school students to take UConn courses at their high schools for both high school and college credit. Every course taken through UConn ECE is equivalent to the same course at the University of Connecticut. Students benefit by taking college courses in a setting that is both familiar and conducive to learning.

High school instructors who have been certified through the University of Connecticut serve as adjunct faculty members and teach UConn ECE courses.

Established in 1955, UConn Early College Experience is the nation's longest running concurrent enrollment program and is nationally accredited by The National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP).

How can Staples Students participate in the UConn ECE?

Staples High School students choose to participate in the ECE Program through their AP Spanish Language, AP French Language and Culture and Italian 4 Honor Courses.

As a result of the 2013 Concurrent Enrollment Credit Transfer Study, UConn ECE created a searchable database which tracks the likelihood of concurrent enrollment credit transfer to over 900 universities and colleges in the United States. After tweaking by our partner schools in NACEP (www.nacep.org), we are ready to release the database to the public. This is a tool you and your students can use when exploring credit transfer opportunities. We examined the transfer policy of hundreds of institutions in detail to give you an easy-to-read rating of credit transfer likelihood. In addition to the database, using the results of the study, we were able to estimate that UConn ECE credit transfers about 87% of the time. The database does not guarantee successful credit transfer. We continue to stress that a student has to advocate for him or herself when attempting to transfer credit.
