Below you will find the steps that you must
complete for this project.
| Step 1 | Get with your group members and decide how the organelles
you researched would fit into an actual city. Example: The mitochondria could represent a power plant because it provides the cell with its needed energy. It is your responsibility to RECORD all the information from this step and steps 2 and 3!! |
| Step 2 | You will continue with step 1 until the following
organelles have been used: chloroplasts, leucoplasts, chromoplasts, cytoskeleton, cell wall, vacuole, endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, lysosomes, golgi apparatus, plasma membrane, nucleus, ribosomes. We are not going to use the centrioles, as the city will represent a plant cell instead of an animal cell. |
| Step 3 | Together, give your city a name. You will also name the
parts of your city that correspond to actual cell structures. Example: The mitochondria could be named "The Mighty Power Plant." It is your responsibility to record this information also. |
| Step 4 | Each day that your group works together, it will be your
responsibility to keep all members on task. You will also keep a log on each
individual in terms of how much participation they were involved in. For example: Did everyone participate? Did only certain members participate? Did only a few participate and the others watch? |
| Step 5 | You will also be responsible for creating a newsletter filled with information on your group members and the cell organelles and their functions. Also included will be the names of the specific structures/people in your city and how they are related to the real cell organelles and structures. More on this below. |
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Record ALL information in a notebook for steps
1, 2, and 3 above.
2. Keep a log on each group member during each day that the group is
collaborating.
3. Create a newsletter.

HERE for more information regarding the newsletter.
